Birthday Girl | Wichita Family Photographer

Hey, guess what?!? Today is this little lady’s BIRTHDAY!! This is the 2nd Birthday we have been able to share with her at home and she has been over joyed with the birthday wishes she has already received. Her little face lights up with the “happy birthday” videos that have been sent already this morning. .
.
We started the day with a few birthday photos, which just happens to be one of our favorite things todo together. We even ordered a new little dress and hat for her birthday (thanks amazon prime day!). As we were finishing up and letting the chickens & ducks out for the day she signed “more” as in more photos momma ♡

Rubes has been home for almost 19 months now. To say it’s been challenging would be an understatement. We both struggle to understand and know what the other wants and needs but we keep plugging away, learning each day how to do better. Choosing daily that God put us together for a reason and He will take care of us. He is working in us to make us more like Him (well…honestly I probably need the most work, not her!) You see when we decided to adopt her I have never felt more confident that we were supposed to do something, so I have struggled to understand why I have such hard days. I guess I thought God brought her to us and provided abundantly each step of the way, so why won’t this come easy? But the thing is God never promised all easy days, we have to make choices each day. We choose to love, choose to obey and choose to follow Him. I am kinda a slow learner but each day I hope He’s changing my heart as hard as it can be. I just wanted you all to know that God loves you and wants only the best for you. He is working in you for the good and you are not alone.

As we continue to move into a new year for her, Rubes will be having a surgical procedure to get an accurate grasp on her hearing. We are very hopeful this will shed some light on language challenges we have had and we will be able to make some changes to help her.
.
But for today we will celebrate our Rubes and probably end the day with her favorite popsicles!
